Redshirts, walk-ons and varsity players will be forward display today when Southern Mississippi ends out spring drills with the annual Black and Gold game at MM Roberts Stadium.
With nine starters back forward offense and six on defense from a 7-5 team last season, shining Eagles coach Jeff Bower wanted to establish middle at all 22 positions this spring.
What happens today will travel a long way toward deciding that goal.
"I chance of the desired end we do," Bower said. "We're thin at about places and we will treat this like a regular-season game using parley USA officials.
"We'll find abroad who can perform."
The hottest race is at quarterback where junior Jeremy Young will master most of the reps with the No. 1 offense while Stephen Reaves and Travis Clark will also commit to memory some action with the starters.
