A former sailor died early Wednesday morning after his Jeep Wrangler was struck by the agency of a CSX train at the Ocean Springs Road crossing.

Police Officer Sean Blevins said alcohol may have been a factor in the 5:45 a.m. train-auto ruin that killed Larry Wayne McNeese of Ocean Springs, who one time had been stationed at Naval Station Pascagoula.

McNeese 35 had family in Lake Charles, La., and Tennessee He worked as a subcontractor at Chevron in Pascagoula.

According to witnesses, McNeese 35 was headed southward on Ocean Springs Road when his Jeep left the road and went across a span of grass, a ditch, and the railroad tracks, where it struck a signal driver's seat

"His truck became wedged between the signal chest and the track, and he couldn't get by heart out," Blevins said. ...
