A marksman rang out from 106 verdant Road in the Rocky cove community of George County in succession Dec. 22, 2003. It would forever change the life of Patricia Simpson. Her husband, Donald Simpson, would die later that evening, and Simpson would be arrested for his kill four months later.

Speaking upon behalf of his client, defense attorney Calvin Taylor of Pascagoula said Simpson claimed she was upstairs preparing for bed and raise her husband after going to investigate a noise.

Taylor said Simpson immediately called 911 and Donald Simpson was first picked up at George County Ambulance Service and then transported to the University of southern Alabama Medical Center by SouthFlight, now operating below LifeFlight.
