The movies have it all improper with Count Dracula changing into a bat. They always display your typical vampire sucking all the offspring out of their victims. That's a division of blood and it would take a vampire with a stupendous stomach to consume it all. If they wanted to have vampires describeed by an animal that better typifies their lifestyle (or death style) they'd have used a tick.

First, there's the disgust factor. I know of hardly any people who don't react negatively to finding an engorged tick attached to any part of their body. That shiny gray sack of line happily sucks up nutrients from your vital fluid vessels. Even if it's attached to the dog, the public still are repelled by them. However, the dog doesn't share this disgust and will happily confine around the yard with dozens of the parasites clamped forward to him. ...
